Things You Should Do When Traveling To England

London is a beautiful place to see and visit. Here are a few must see vacation spots in London.

Big Ben

When you think of London,  you automatically think of Big Ben.  This has to be the world’s most iconic clock tower.  Located at the north end of the Palace of Westminster, is in one of the world’s most famous tourist attractions. Definitely go on the hour to hear the chimes.

It is busy with tourists trying to take picture of it so the bridge can be crowded. Even busy it is definitely worth seeing and taking in the architecture surrounding it. Big Ben will  unfortunately go silent soon till 2021 due to renovations. But you need to see this iconic clock that most of us grew up seeing in our childhood books.

Buckingham Palace

You have to stop at Buckingham Palace, right? Your trip would not be complete without seeing the working headquarters of the Monarchy.  The Changing of the Guards is a colourful spectacle of British pageantry. The ceremony last about 45 minutes but what a sight to see.

You need to visit the State Rooms using the headphones and mini tablet so you can stroll through at your own pace and listen to the history of the palace in your language.  Also, the gardens are magnificent to see. Pictures are not allowed inside so you really have to see it for yourself. They do offer guided tours so if you are limited on time this option might be more beneficial for you. Help you plan your day.

Westminster Abbey

You can’t leave London without seeing Westminster Abbey.  This 700 year old building has over one million visitors a year.

The Abbey is the place where the royals hold coronations, funerals and other religious ceremonies.  Princess Diana’s funeral was held here. The Abbey is rich with history, paintings, stained glass, other artifacts. You can join in for worship daily and guided tours are offered.  You need to visit the Abbey to truly appreciate the stunning architecture and get a postcard worthy picture.

Kensington Palace

Kensington Palace is the former home to Queen Victoria and Princess Diana.  This beautiful palace has exhibits throughout. Currently the Princess Diana:Fashion Story is being displayed.  Come and see some of her elegant dresses and outfits. Diana, Princess of Wales was considered a fashion icon of her time. Make sure to take a stroll through the well manicured gardens that Princess Diana loved to visit.  She raised Prince William and Harry at Kensington Palace. Prince William and his family now reside here.

It is just a special place to visit knowing Princess Diana lived there.  You can’t help but love the “Princess for the People” as she was known.

The London Bridge

The London Bridge has beautiful views and is a great place to take pictures. The view at night is stunning with the city illuminated.

I recommend you travel with friends or family.  There are certainly millions of people and plenty of chances to get lost.  And thanks to our friends at Chandler Towing Services for these travel tips.
